The Black Tomyam

So these few years i hit quiet a few milestones that I myself still be taken by surprises. Yup. I'm not intended  to brag around but this is my comfortable space of listing achievements without the threat of being judged.

Thanks to hikari (shall blog about it one day... One day.... Should the day ever came...) which I owe a lot to, I finally learn how to cook.

Yes. Me. Sofwah. Cooking.

And when I say cooking, i mean real deal cooking a complete meal, from scratch, urm coating ayam with tepung goreng bestari does not considered real cooking okay :p

There are times my cooking was a disappointment, however edible, but tasted rather bland or perplexing. Thanks for the fellow housemates who still eat my cooking in silence and NEVER, not once criticise my cooking even though you know you could do better.

I learned that in cooking, like math, or language, you don't suddenly become good at it. Well, of course, unless you are already preoccupied with hidden talents in the respective field, that's another case.

You learn through practises, over the time, either via observation or hands on learning from the pro. You must learn. And most importantly, you must do it. There's no other way. Like language, to be fluent in one language, you must practice, speak, converse, and think, in that language. You must make mistakes, and embrace them, and learn from it.

As we grow older we all expected to be occupied with certain skills, necessary for survival. It is such an embarrassment for us not knowing how to cook basic, simple meal, or to do simple math of multiplying addition, etc, or to know certain basic words in english that everyone knows but you don't.

Hence the crippling words
"dah umur (insert your age here) takkan ni pun tak reti/tahu?! "

I know. Those words glide frok their mouth and pave their way to the deepest darkest core of your heart. And it left scars.

We slowly begin to stop trying. Self esteem went down the hill and we stop learning. Failure embarrass us and we feel stupid for not knowing what seems to be the stupidest of things that everyone knows and you don't.

That was me, maybe years ago but I decided to change. I stopped being so harsh on myself and as much as I wanted to excel in everything, I did not know everything.

We are never too old to learn something stupid. And never too old to start learning. Tak reti, don't push the responsibilities away with that excuse. Kalau tak reti, kita belajar dan cuba. Honestly, we have nothing to lose.

Over the year i learnt these basic things:
-cara nak siang ikan dengan bersih sebersihnya. Guna gunting supaya senang nak belah ikan. Guna berus gigi (yg dah tak pakai)  untuk bersihkan bahagian dalam ikan.  Easy breezy cheesy patooty.

- the most efficient way to bersihkan ayam ialah dgn guna gunting where you just snip away all those lemak and skin.

- kalau nak goreng ikan keli make sure belah dulu bahagian luar sebab nanti tak pasal pasal kene berperang nak goreng ikan ikan tu.

-kalau nak masak sup dengan sedap, tambah rempah kurma.
-kalau nak goreng ikan bagi ikan rangup crunchy, garam kunyit ikan tu, campur sikit tepung gandum. Kalau rajin tambah serbuk kari.

Okay  loads more but that's all I can think of at the moment. And I thought the tips are worth to share :)

And today I learned that kalau nak masak kepala sotong make sure mata dia buang, sebab nanti mata dia pecah pastu the whole dish went black. Literally. (hence the black tom yam inspired title) *emoji hingus keluar*

Thank you, next I shall write about my final year expectations but again.... We'll see how it goes. I loveeee writing in my blog and I know I should do it more often, and I wanted to remember bits and pieces of my life that'll benefit me and you readers.

But do expect these random posts also that I hope will light up your day, even it's already bright shining and sunny on your part of the world :p

Till next time,
Copiyati.

Memory

You know I always take pride in how good my memory works. I can remember details, information, and able to retain & recall them whenever it is needed. I remember small minute detail of a person, what she/he likes or dislike, what they're allergic of, preferences, pet peeves, depending how close they are to me. I remember event and incidents that occurs, I remember the things people say, sometimes the wording they use, I remember the places and memories it carries-the people I go with, the purpose of going, and sometimes the exact dates if not month of the year. I remember random facts about thingsi studied in my degree despite not dealing with the subjects on daily basis. I remember very vividly the memories of people despite how random and sometimes insignificant it seems. No matter how useful a good memory does sound, Sometimes, secretly, I resent it. I resent that how memories are only pieces of you that you're meant to keep. Just because you remember the specific event ...

The ocean

We could've been the ocean Where the limits is not found The potentials, possibilities of what could have become But you chose the land The security, the certainty and safety that it offers You chose what is easy And that's okay Me and difficulties came as part in parcel As much as I can give you Or that I tried or willing to try to There are parts of me that isn't gonna be easy I probably can't give you peace And that's okay Maybe it's not that much of a fall It's the imagery of you that stuck And how it takes the shape and the idea of you But I'm beginning to understand now, or at least as of this current moment There are something to be blamed but not everything I hold no grudge nor that I bear any ill wishes I just prefer not to see the sight of you At least not until I let go that image of you And the thought of what we could have become And I free myself from this attachment and idea You chose the logic, the safer route And I will embark on a diffe...

The very defining moment

26th of June When we got into a little misunderstanding and you go to sleep upset and I went about my days pretending like nothing happened when in reality i was just as affected I think over the time i became quite good at pretending putting on smiles and working, as if it was all normal when the truth I keep on dropping things, i was all over the place I am CLEARLY not in a great mood and later that night you called me up and asked if I had my dinner already and all you said "bawak tupperware. Saya kat luar" Imagine the kind of shock I had When you are upset but still decides to go above and beyond for me I'm not sure what do I have in me but I just got lucky 27th June Another misunderstanding (lol) and this time you dropped by again late at night we drive and we talk I talk and talk endlessly We smiled and laugh (and in my heart i knew, I want this forever) I want to be next to you when I'm sad when i feel hopeless or just full of moodiness and I just wanna be sad ...
