No, this post isn't about some english show on TVIQ channel.
this post is inspired by a great person, Ustaz Nouman Ali Khan. I bet most of you at least ever heard this name. kalau tak pernah dngar you are in such a great loss. seriously. segera google ye. haha
okay, this is one of my favourite video of him. actually it's pretty hard to pick one, sebab semua video dia best. haha.
This great person inspired me a lot. especially when it comes to empower and improving my English. His accent was totally like a pure american that I was surprised to figure out that he's a pakistani. hehe
Maybe kalau beliau tak reti speak english pun he would still be famous. boleh je orang nak letak video beliau and bubuh subtitle. the message is still there, but because of his ability to speak english fluently, he could attract international audience. the message was conveyed in more efficient way, and hence benefited more people across the globe.
A person who knows the tafsir of the Quran, and of course have a great competency in Arabic, and able to spread the message of love, and what's beyond the surface of the great verses of Al Quran, that many people have difficulities to understand.
Isn't that something which is totally cool?
I'm not saying that english is better than arabic. saya bukanlah memuliakan bahasa Inggeris berbanding bahasa Arab mahupun bahasa ibunda saya sendiri. aicehhh.
tapi saya ingin mengajak anda untuk melihat potensi yg ada pada bahasa antarabangsa ini, dari perspektif dakwah.
Sabda Nabi SAW:
"Manusia itu seperti logam, baiknya mereka semasa jahiliyah, baik jugalah smasa Islam, sekiranya mereka faham."
one of the hadis yg highlighted semasa daurah ISK. time muqaddimah (saya sangat suke muqaddimah ISK!)
FYI, sofwah tak lahir dalam family yg speaks english pun. ayah sofwah reti cakap Arab, mak sofwah cikgu subjek BM kat sekolah. so bukan lahir2 makan makanan western sejak baby pastu reti cakap english (reti la sangat kan)
dan first time kite try nak speaks english spontaneously time debate, I only speaks two minute out of seven minute allocated. dua minit including gagap, pandang orang kiri kanan, "err..errr". pretty humiliating. but the good thing is, waktu tu I am surrounded with people yg sama-sama nak belajar, so takde sape nak gelakkan sesiapa. malah saling bg support, idea dan semangat. I might not be who I am, now, if it's not because of them (i miss all of them, deeply).
dan saya sangat rindu nak belajar bahasa Arab. sekarang ni still belajar arab, tapi kitorang mainly blaja bab Nahu dengan Sorf je. kalau bab2 tu maybe lepas lagi sikit2, tapi kalau suruh sofwah buat insya' memang fail la kan.
may Allah bless this inspiring person for his efforts in doing dakwah. And may Allah grant us the same enthusiasm and perseverance that he owned.
mari jadi daie yg versatile! :)
